Priyo at Pete's
7:00pm
Imaginary Elegies is now Priyo at Pete’s!
In Bengali, priyo means dear or beloved, favorite, or precious. Priyo is a (mostly) poetry showcase created by Ashna Ali, now co-hosted by Ashna and Angbeen Saleem, that is committed to supporting and uplifting local artistic community by beloveds for beloveds to celebrate the genius and love of poetry and performance.
This duo is coming together after Angbeen’s poetry reading series with Iris Marble, Imaginary Elegies, ended this summer and hope to continue to grow and create a community of beloveds who shake, whisper, laugh, and scream in delight.
Priyo at Pete’s is heart and whimsy and mundane and special and serious, all in one.
This month, we’ll be hearing from Noelle de la Paz, Zora Satchell and Not Your Mother. We’re excited to start this fall with a dazzle. Back to school? Nah, back to jewels.

I Hate My Phone I Love My Phone
6:00pm
IHATEMYPHONEILOVEMYPHONE is a performance workshop on digital addiction. This workshop combines an interdisciplinary teach-in, ritual healing circle, and comedic theater show into one. It explores the social, political, and physiological impacts of addictive digital technologies under fascism on our bodies, communities, and earth. Beyond exploration, this workshop offers people both a history lesson of how we came to live under a techno-fascist attention economy and a way out--by drawing on nervous system regulation tools passed down through generations of lineages in healing arts (somatics)--to regain control of our bodies--so we may regain control of our attention and thus our political agency.

Chestnut: A Live Storytelling Show
7:00pm
In the spirit of liberation and celebration what’s a time when you were on top? Prepare a story about your craziest party, a victory you didn’t see coming, or that mountain you finally climbed after 5 years of planning. Think back to that bottle of tequila or a sunny day after a storm. Whether it was a win for the soul or fireworks literally lit up the sky, sometimes we need a reminder to celebrate the big and the small.
In case you need anymore inspiration I invite you to think back to those milestones: prom, 21st birthday, that wedding your cousin had in the woods, or the 30th birthday party that was more of a rave.
Bring a story, a friend, or simply yourselves.
